Temel yer edatları
Yer edatları bir şeyin nerede olduğunu gösterir. 'in' = içinde (kapalı bir alanın içinde): in the box, in the room. 'on' = üstünde (bir yüzeye temas ederek): on the table, on the wall. 'under' = altında: under the chair. 'next to' = yanında/bitişiğinde: next to the door. Edattan sonra genelde 'the' + isim gelir.

- The keys are in the bag. — Anahtarlar çantanın içinde.
- The book is on the table. — Kitap masanın üstünde.
- The cat is under the chair. — Kedi sandalyenin altında.
- The lamp is next to the bed. — Lamba yatağın yanında.
The book is in the table. → The book is on the table. (Yüzey için 'on' kullanılır, 'in' değil.)
The cat is under of the chair. → The cat is under the chair. ('under' doğrudan isimle kullanılır, 'of' gerekmez.)
